ATSAF is a scientific society for internationally oriented agricultural and ecosystem research in Germany.
Funded through the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and in collaboration with giz via the ACINAR-project, German university professors and CGIAR++ centers,
ATSAF has established the ATSAF Academy.
The aim of the Academy is to involve PhD students from German universities in CGIAR++ research projects and in this way strengthen the links between German universities and international, development-oriented agricultural research.
In order to be eligible for support, the PhD student must be hosted by a CGIAR++ Center, attached to an ongoing CGIAR++ research activity, best in form of an international, multidisciplinary project, and jointly supervised by a CGIAR++ senior scientist and a Professor from a German university. The envisaged PhD project must be complementary and provide an added value to the ongoing CGIAR++research activity.
Students must enroll into a German PhD program but do not need to be German nationals. Applicants from CGIAR++ partner countries are welcome and we particularly encourage female students to apply.
ATSAF Academy offers a scientific support program for its scholarship holders in the form of courses and seminars, which are recognized in the respective universities for the structured PhD programs.
